Agnes (Fojtik) Fikes

Agnes Fikes of Edna, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the age of 98.  She was born in West, Texas on April 18th, 1922 to Frank and Bessie Fojtik.

Agnes was a Homemaker, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother.  She was a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church, a member of Catholic Daughters of St. Theresa #1350 for 45 years and a member of St. Agnes KJZT for 62 years.

Agnes was a loving wife to the late Ocie Fikes, She loved her Faith and her God for so many years.  She attended daily Mass and led the Rosary before Mass.  Every Monday for years she would go after Mass and visit Care Inn Nursing Home and Jackson County Hospital patients.  Afterward she went to visit her brother and would play dominoes, talk Czech, and enjoy coffee and sweets.  Family and friends were most important to Agnes.  She was  always helping others and never met a stranger.  She loved cooking and baking and insisted you eat.  No one ever left her house hungry.  She loved playing dominoes, and winning, of course!  Her favorite time of the day was sitting outside on the porch swing.

Agnes will be missed by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sisters, and friends, and all who knew her and loved her.  Agnes is survived by her son, Louis and Vlasta Fikes, daughter, Pat Kromka, daughter, Barbara Wulf, daughter, Mary and Carl Jones, son, Thomas and Bernice Fikes, son, Dominic Fikes, daughter, Vickie and Jimmy Doelitsch, and son, Chris and Debbie Fikes, twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty-six great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, her sisters, Betsy Hudson and Hattie Poole, twenty-two God Children, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Ocie Fikes, son, Timothy Fikes, grandson, Dusty Doelitsch, great-granddaughter, Kara Fikes, sister, Annie Kucerek, Mary Valka, Lilly Polensky, brothers, Frank Fojtik, Louis Fojtik, Albert Fojtik and Jim Fojtik, also two of her son-in-law's; Paul Wulf, Sr. and Jan Kromka, and her daughter-in-law Terri Fikes.

Viewing and Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18th starting at 9:00 am, with Rosary at 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna with Father Michael Petering officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Yoakum with Deacon Dennis officiating Graveside..

Pallbearers will be; Wesley Fojtik, Tommy Fikes, Sr., Bobby Doelitsch, Randy Janis, Jimmy Doelitsch, Paul Wulf, Sr., Chris Fikes, Jr., and Heith Fikes.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and her God Children.

The family would also like to thank Ganado Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Hospice of South Texas, home Health and Deborah Smith who has been her caregiver for several years.
