Agnes "Vickie" Doelitsch Obituary

Agnes Victoria "Vickie" Doelitsch, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on May 29.  Her loving and generous heart will shine forever and will be a beacon of light for all who loved her.  Vickie was the 8th child born to Ocie and Agnes Fikes.  Vickie and her beloved husband of some 40 years, Jimmy Doelitsch, were devoted to one another and led lives focused on God, family, and community.

Vickie had an unwavering faith in God, and her faith continued growing stronger.  She loved the Rosary, had a great devotion to Saint Michael, and made sure her grandchildren said their night prayers and prayed before meals.

Vickie was always known for going that extra mile for anyone in need.  Several times, she coordinated days of baking dozens of cupcakes, cookies, loaves of bread for First Responders and fixing Christmas gifts for nursing home residents for her grandchildren to help and deliver, teaching them the importance of giving and serving others.  She was always ready to help with projects for Saint Agnes CCD, especially if she could stay in the background.  She recently heard of a family in need, so she quickly raids her grandchildren's closets for clothes they didn't wear or have outgrown and games they didn't use and then hit the stores in Victoria to buy clothes.  By the time she finished collecting items, she and her daughter delivered a carload to a most grateful family.  Her love of charity was truly for God and making people happy and not for recognition.

She was filled with a bravery that most don't have.  Witnessing a wreck involving an 18-wheeler, she did not hesitate to jump into a dangerous situation and kept talking to the driver, while having his wife on the phone, keeping them both calm until the EMS arrived.  A new friendship was born out of her act of courage.

Vickie had a great sense of humor and loved playing tricks and jokes on people to get them laughing, as for her, laughter was a great medicine to be shared.  She loved cuddling up in bed and reading stories to her grandchildren when they were young.

She had a passionate love affair with her flowers and plants.  Despite floods, drought, or insects, her home was always surrounded by beautiful flowering plants which she took great pride in.  Recently, she started seedlings of what seems like hundreds of every imaginable herb she could find, even those she never heard of.  Having no idea what she'd do with all of them, but she was sure she could find people to give them to.

She also had a great love and passion for God's creatures, any type of animal.  She now has 4 cows/calves that she adored and leaves behind.

Vickie is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy Doelitsch; their prize possessions, their children, Bobby and Jessica Doelitsch, Amy Doelitsch, Christy White.  Her life was blessed with beautiful grandchildren:  Madison Kucera, Meghan Kucera, Delaney Doelitsch, Gary Doelitsch, Joshua Doelitsch, Brianna Doelitsch, Taylor Ebeling, Caitlyn Slaughter, Justice White and with three great-grandchildren: Emalyn Ebeling, Grace Ebeling, and Malik Lopez.  She is also survived by her siblings: Louis and Vlasta Fikes, Barbara Wulf, Thomas and Bernice Fikes, Mary Nell and Carl Jones, Dominic, Chris and Debbie Fikes, and Pat and Jan Carl Kromka.

Vickie joins her son, Dusty Joe, who died at birth and whom her heart has always ached to hold.  Mother and son are finally reunited.  Preceding her in death, besides her son, and her parents, are her brother Timothy Fikes, grandparents Frank and Bessie Fojtik and Oscar and Ora Fikes, her father-in-law, George Doelitsch, and her brother-in-law Paul Wulf.

Vickie was loved by so many.  Her generous spirit, kind heart, love of God, love of animals and flowers and plants will live forever in the hearts of those that love her.

Pallbearers are Thomas Fikes, Chris Fikes, Robert Fojtik, Michael Fojtik, C.J. Fikes, and Randy Janis.

Her life will be celebrated on Monday, June 6th, beginning with a visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, with a Rosary being recited at 9:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Edna, with Father Greg Korenek officiating, followed by burial at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Yoakum.
