Angela Maria (Rios) Zapata

Angela Maria Zapata, 47, of Edna went home to her Lord on Sunday, October 2, 2021. She was born on Friday, February 1, 1974 in McAllen, Texas to Maria Oralia Rios and Jose Guadalupe Rios. Angela was raised in Rio Grande City, Texas, with her parents and siblings, the entire family worked as migrant workers all over the country.  At the age of 18 she met and married Javier Zapata and they moved to Edna, Texas where they started a family, she then went to work at Friends of Elderly Citizens for eight years, after she retired from there, she stayed home to do the things she enjoyed which included cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Angela is survived by her husband, Javier Zapata, Sr., her daughter Maricruz Zapata Goss, and her son, Javier Guadalupe Zapata, Jr.  She has been preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; Manuela Guajardo, Santos Rios, Francisca Tamez and Felix Rios, her son-in-law; Jarrell "Jay" Goss, and her siblings; Lupe Rios, Aide Rios, Rosie Rios and Melilisa Rios.

There will be a Viewing on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel.

Due to the increase on COVID-19 cases,  Social Distancing and Masks WILL BE recommended, for the safety of family and friends.
