Anna Lorene Roades Obituary

Anna Lorene Mikus Roades, 84 of Edna, Texas, passed away on October 3rd, 2025. She was born in Victoria, Texas on February 20, 1941, to the late Johnnie Mikus and Laura Franz Mikus Miller. Anna was married to David Gordon Roades from Ganado, Texas on November 10, 1962.


Anna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Anna upon high school graduation from Industrial ISD attended beauty college in Victoria and met Gordon. After their marriage, they moved to El Campo, Texas and 3 daughters were born. Gordon took a career change, and he and Anna moved to the Speaks and Cordele area. The twins were born making a family of 5 daughters. Rice Farming became their profession, and Anna was instrumental in the success of growing crops and family. Upon moving to their homestead in Edna, Texas, a baby boy was finally born. She successfully managed her family and enjoyed growing things, mowing, harvesting, sewing and many more talents. Baking and decorating creative birthday cakes was her specialty. She could also sew beautiful outfits for little girls to uniforms and prom dresses for teenagers. She attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Altar Guild and the annual Oyster Supper. Anna had a beautiful singing voice and a spirit of service.


Anna is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Janssen (Brent Walker) of Edna, TX, Lana (William “Scooter”) Webel of Victoria, TX, La Wanda (Jim) McCormick of Victoria, TX, Vee (Nick) Strauss of La Ward, TX, Dee (James) Darilek of Edna, TX, and son, Oren (Stacie) Roades of Aubrey, TX. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth (Pat) Miori of Inez, TX and brother-in-law, RH Roades of Ganado, TX. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Erin (Derek) Zarosky, Haley (Justin) Willemin, Hayden (Morgan) Webel, Grady (Sarah) Atkinson, Lauren (Keith) Kieschnick, Katlyn (Eric) Berrettini, Nicholas (Kyla) Strauss, Staci (Karsen) Klimitchek, Carson (fiancé Kristin Dierlam) Darilek, Shane Darilek, Oliver Roades, Charlie Roades, Madyson (Levi) Moore, Will Croom, and Jack Croom. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.


Anna is preceded in death by her parents and husband; sister –in-laws, Shirley Mattocks and Peggy Roades; and great –grandson, Harrison Webel.


A visitation will be held on Sunday October 5, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Slavik Funeral Home chapel.  The funeral service will be on Monday October 6, 2025, at 10:00am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Inez with interment to follow at Hirschauser Cemetery.
