Bennie was called home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the young age of 57. Bennie was born to Ben and Lalie Barrios in Lolita, Texas, on July 7, 1968, where he lived his entire life. Bennie was raised with strong values and a love for family. He carried those values throughout his life, working hard, caring for others, and always finding a way to make people laugh. Bennie was a man who never shied away from hard work. Over the years, he worked many different jobs, as a butcher, a mechanic, and eventually as a gantry operator for Alcoa. Whatever the job, Bennie gave it his all. He was determined, reliable, and proud of what he could do with his own two hands.
Bennie loved his three children; Michael, Alex and Mariska, and he was very proud of them. No matter what was going on in life, they each held a special place in his heart. He worked hard to provide for them and wanted nothing more than to see them do well and be happy. Bennie will be remembered for his warm personality, his persistence, and his kindness. He was someone who could talk to anyone, someone who could find humor even in hard times.
Bennie has been survived by his brother; Don Gabriel Barrios, his children; Michael David Barrios, Alex Barrios, and Mariska Barrios, his only grandchild; Blayke Barrios, his niece; Aubrey Michelle Barrios, and his nephews; Aiden Leo Barrios, Aaron Levi Barrios and Brinley Schmidt, as well as his aunt; Janie Gonzales from San Antonio. He has been preceded in death by his grandparents; Juan and Santos Thompson, and Leopoldo and Maximia Alvarez Barrios, also his parents: Benito "Ben" Alvarez Barrios and Oralia "Lalie" Thompson Barrios.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 6, 2025 beginning at 10:30 am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Vanderbilt with Father Johnson officiating.
Services have been entrusted to the Todish Families of Ganado and Slavik Funeral Homes
