Bernard "Benny" Sulak Obituary

Benny Sulak, 86, of Ganado, earned his wings on Monday, April 17, 2023.  Benny was born on Saturday, April 3, 1937 in Ganado, Jackson County, Texas to Joe V. Sulak and Julia Dybala Sulak, Benny was one of 8 children  blessed to this family. Benny served his country by enlisting in the Army in 1956, where he remained until 1959.  He married the love of his life, Emelia Kovar on February 20, 1966. Benny and Emily have been a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado and also a member of Ganado Knights of Columbus #3204.

Benny is survived by his beloved "Emily", his children; Veronica Sulak Webernick, Katherine Sulak White and her husband Ethan, Rebecca Sulak Carruthers and her husband Thor, Matthew Sulak and his wife Jamie, Robert Sulak and his wife Cathi and Michael Sulak and his wife Nicki, his 17 grandchildren; Clayton Webernick and his wife Antje, Meredith Webernick, Lauren Sulak, Emma Sulak, Jacob Sulak, Julie Sulak, Caitlyn Sulak, John Paul Sulak, Natalie Sulak, Victoria Sulak, Alois White, Henrik White, Liam Carruthers, Nicholas Carruthers, Trey Carruthers, Karsen Sulak and Hallie Sulak, also his 8 great-grandchildren; Cameryn Webernick, Clayton "Bubba" Webernick, Jr., Tyler Henderson, Sophia Share, Violet Sulak, Lily Garcia, RJ Garcia and Wesley Garcia. Benny is also survived by his siblings; Maxine Wilson, Lad Sulak and his wife June, and Joe D. "JD" Sulak, and his faithful little dog, "Butch".

Benny has been preceded in death by his parents, Joe V. Sulak and Julia Dybala Sulak, his sisters, Mabel Liberda, Anne Moore, Mary Jane Rod and Irene Psencik, sons, David Wayne Sulak at the age of 5 months, Vincent Paul Sulak  at the age of 8 years, and Stephen James Sulak at the age of 10 years old, also his son-in-law Philip Webernick. 

There will be a visitation on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek officiating.  Interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Bubela, Conrad Rod, Dwayne Taylor, Jacob Sulak, Clayton Webernick and Clinton Wooldridge, honorary pallbearers will be his beloved seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Ave., Victoria, TX 77901, Assumption Catholic Church, 109 S. 6th St., Ganado, Texas 77962, or Donor's Choice.
