Dana Elizabeth Knowlton went to be with our Lord on July 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her father, William M. “Buck” Grimes, brother, William M. “Bill” Grimes, and stepfather Glenn Robert Shults. Dana is survived by her mother, Virginia Shults, husband of 43 years, Virgil Knowlton, son Gregory Knowlton and partner Ben Castellanos, daughter Megan Demmer and husband Charlie, and three beautiful grandchildren Colton Demmer, Cyleigh Demmer and Cora Demmer. As a 40-year health care professional (ADN, RN and FNP), Dana positively affected the lives of hundreds of people in Victoria, Jackson, and Wharton counties. She loved helping people and worked very diligently at making sure her patients received the best care she could possibly provide. Dana also had a profound impact on her coworkers and colleagues throughout the crossroads. Her first love was always emergency medicine, and she was affectionately known as an ER junkie. Dana’s dream from high school was to become a doctor, and while she did not achieve the MD degree, she did obtain her Family Nurse Practitioner degree while working full time as an RN. This achievement was the proudest moment of her professional life. She went on to mentor other people seeking the same degree. Dana loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Mimi was always willing to “watch the kids” and provide goldfish or popsicles. We are all richer for having the privilege of knowing Dana E. Grimes Knowlton. She genuinely cared about people and her legacy is that she left this world a better place than she found it. The family will receive visitors starting at 12:30pm on Sunday July 7, 2024, at First Methodist Church Ganado with a funeral service beginning at 2:30pm. Interment to follow at Ganado City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Greg Knowlton, Joe Knowlton, James Meiske, Pat Knowlton, Chuck Knowlton and Charlie Demmer.
