David DeWayne Bartels

After a long hard battle with lung cancer, David DeWayne Bartels has won the fight and has gone to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 66. David was born on Thursday, September 2, 1954 in McGregor, Texas to Janet and Clarence "Red" Bartels.

David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, JoAnn "Cissy" Bartels. David left behind his three children; Gary Garbs, Misty Bartels and Pamela Bartels and her spouse Bryan Bachus, He also left behind one brother, Michael and Tausha Bartels, and one sister, Cheryl Mitchell, also his twelve grandchildren, Lawrence Garbs, Jacob Garbs, Chelsea Garbs, Amber Garbs, Lance Garbs, Mackenzie Garbs, Bayleigh Snider, James Snider, III, Keely Snider, Gabrielle Longoria, Logan Bartels, and Dakota Bartels, and his four great-grandchildren, Patricia Garbs, Serenity Buchanan Garbs, Ryder McNabb and Copelan McNabb.  David is preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Linda Mier.

Paulbearers are James Snider, Gary Garbs, Jacob Garbs, Lance Garbs, Erik Bartels, Bryan Bachus, Jason January and Caleb Koch.

There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 am followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am at Lolita Baptist Church, interment will immediately follow at Memory Gardens of Edna (1300 N. Kleas St., Edna, TX 77957.) Directly after the graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering for our beloved David at the Lolita Fire Hall, all are welcome to attend. Please remember that masks will be required.
