Edward "Ed" Miller Obituary

Edward Ray Miller, 96 of Ganado was called home, after a lingering illness, to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1:20 pm. Edward was residing at The Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, but his heart was always with his wife at their home in Jackson County.

Edward was born in Gonzales County, Texas on Saturday, January 24, 1925 to Louis Frederick and Jesse Ellen Aldis Miller.  In addition to his parents, Edward has been preceded in death by his sisters, Lola Belle English, Maggie Elizabeth Smith, Lily Evelyn Montgomery, and Ruby Merle Parker. Left to Cherish his memory are his wife, Ileta Faye Miller, daughter, Cleo Genelle Moore, nieces, Sandra Nell Philips, Carolyn Phelps, Barbara Jean Bucek, and Marsha Parker, nephews, Louis Wayne Montgomery of Goliad, John, Bubba and Ricky Parker, and Brother-In-Law Edwin Parker of Smiley.  Edward was a loving son, husband, father and uncle, he was a devoted family man, and always saw that their needs were met.  Edward brought his family to Jackson County in 1952 after he secured employment at Alcoa Aluminum in Port Lavaca. He retired in 1981 after 30 years of service and enjoyed a long leisurely retirement.

The son of a farming family, he enjoyed the outdoors, and in his younger years, he did a lot of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed restoring antique Model A Ford Cars, often driving them in a parade or a Tri-County Tour.  He had many friends and never met a stranger.
