Elizabeth "Lauren" Alexander Obituary

Elizabeth Lauren Alexander June 19, 1990 – December 31, 2024

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Lauren Alexander, beloved wife, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend, who left this world on December 31, 2024, in Edna, Texas, at the age of 34. Lauren was born on June 19, 1990, in Houston, Texas, to Michael and Sue McGill. She was the cherished wife of Drew Alexander, loving daughter of Mike and Sue, and devoted sister to Allison McGill.

Lauren grew up in Spring, Texas, where her bright spirit and infectious enthusiasm made her the heart of every room. From a young age, she demonstrated a love for cheerleading and dancing, talents that reflected her joyful energy and exuberance for life. Lauren shared countless adventures with her parents and was deeply spoiled by her aunts and uncles.

After graduating from Spring High School, Lauren attended Sam Houston State University, where she became a proud sister of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. It was at Sam Houston that Lauren not only forged lifelong friendships but also met the love of her life, Drew. These friendships would become a cornerstone of her life, providing her with a network of support and joy that lasted through the years. It was also at Sam Houston where her infectious personality and kindness won over the hearts of all who knew her.

Lauren’s journey took her to Edna, Texas, where she and Drew made their home. From the moment they arrived, Lauren made an immediate impact on her new community. Whether through her work as an educator or simply in her day-to-day interactions, Lauren’s warmth and enthusiasm touched everyone around her. She quickly became an integral part of the Edna community, offering support, friendship, and a caring spirit to all who crossed her path.

Lauren found her true calling as a teacher at Roland Elementary in Victoria and later at Edna Elementary, where her dedication to inspiring young minds was evident. She poured love into every student, building lasting connections and inspiring all who crossed her path. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for her family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to nurture and uplift, always making those around her feel valued and cared for.

A lifelong dog lover, Lauren cherished her two pups, Bailey and Bella. Whether taking them on Jeep rides, dressing them up for Halloween, or painting their nails, she loved them with all her heart. Family meant everything to Lauren, and she adored spending time with her nephews Cooper and Donavan Calaway, and her niece Brenna Calaway, filling each moment with laughter and joy.

Throughout her life, Lauren faced significant health challenges, including being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a young age. In 2021, she was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, but Lauren’s fighting spirit never wavered. Despite the challenges she faced, her warmth, strength, and positivity were a constant source of inspiration to those who knew her. She continued to spread love, joy, and encouragement, even during the toughest of times.

Lauren’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. She was a loving wife, a daughter who cherished her parents, a loving and supporting sister to Allison, and a friend to everyone she met. Her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all those she touched. Her passion for teaching, her capacity for kindness, and her courageous fight in the face of adversity will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lauren is survived by her loving husband Drew Alexander; her parents Mike and Sue McGill; her sister Allison McGill; her aunts Janice Martin and Becky Hargett; her uncles Joey McGill and Steve Hargett; her father-in-law Alan Alexander; her mother-in-law Katherine Alexander; her sister-in-law Shannon Calaway; her brother-in-law Jacob Calaway; her nephews Cooper and Donavan Calaway; her niece Brenna Calaway; and a large extended family of friends who adored her.

A celebration of Lauren’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in Edna, Texas, on January 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM, where friends and family are invited to share their memories of a remarkable woman who will forever be missed.
