Elsie Vanek went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 25, 2026.  She was born on September 15, 1931, in Inez, Texas to Philip and Sophie Buzek. Elsie was a housewife; mother and she babysat many children in Ganado.  Elsie is survived by her daughters Dorothy Byrne (Andy), Elizabeth (Liz) Staff and Theresa Hermes and sister Mary Jedlicka.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Elsie is preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, brothers Willie Buzek, Louis Buzek, Rudolph Buzek, and Victor Buzek, Sr., sisters Adela Hahn and Martha Rozsypal, son-in-law Tommy Staff and grandson Thomas Staff.  A special Thank You goes out to Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of South Texas for all of their loving care given to Elsie in her final days.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2026, at 1:00pm at Assumption Catholic Church with the rosary being recited at 1:30pm.  The funeral mass will begin at 2:00pm with Father Greg Korenek officiating.  Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Johnny Rozsypal, Victor Buzek, Jr., Weldon Nanson, Gage Nanson, Clint Hensley and Dalton Lugo.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas, or donor's choice. Services are entrusted to the Todish family of Slavik & Ganado Funeral Homes.
