Isabel Perez Obituary

Isabel "Chavelo" Perez, 81 of Ganado left this earth to go to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 27, 2022.  He was born on Tuesday, February 25, 1941 in Lolita, TX to Jesus and Maria Perez and was one of thirteen children.  He married the love of his life, Ninfa Ramirez on May 30th 1970, making their life in Ganado raising their their four children and were married for fifty-two years.  He was a hard worker his entire life, starting out by working on his family's ranch as a child, and farming for other families in his teenage years.  He then worked various jobs in the oilfield in different positions until the age of 59.  He then became employed by Edna ISD where he worked for twenty-two years in the maintenance department and finally retired at the age of 80.  He is survived by his wife Ninfa, son Calixtro Vega (wife Sharri), daughter Veronica Spalek, (husband Steven), daughter Cindy Arevalo (husband Juan), son Edward Perez (wife Jennifer), grandchildren, Janessa Gaona, Jaylah Galvan (husband Jorje), Allison Vasquez, Reymond Arevalo, Adrian Arevalo, Araceli Arevalo, Bailey Perez, Caleb Perez and Julliana Arevalo, also his great-grandchildren, Jaylonnie Galvan, Nathan Nunez and Jovanni Galvan.  He is also survived by his siblings, Tana Ortiz, Andrea Trevino, Mary Zarate, Tirso Perez (wife Marie), Georgie Ramirez, Fred Perez (wife Bea) and Jessie Perez (wife Emma).  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Juan Perez, Antonio Perez, Jim Perez, Felix Perez, sister, Julia Tristan and grandson Jullian Arevalo.  Isabel loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved all babies and even those he didn't know, he would baby talk to them and cuddle all babies.  He loved to barbeque, go for long slow country road drives with his wife and you never knew where they would end up.  They would even take roads that they weren't familiar with just to see where the roads would take them and they even got lost once.  In his younger years he would wake up his kids on the weekends singing all through the house with his great singing voice and he also loved to sing in the shower.  He had an awesome "grito" which would make everyone smile.  He enjoyed watching westerns, news and sports on TV, but he loved the Houston Astros.  He was well known for playing jokes on people and had a great poker face for it.  In his younger years he was a great pool and domino player.  He enjoyed telling stories of his younger years and reminiscing with friends.  He and Ninfa loved to eat at their favorite restaurant in El Campo every weekend where they would share a plate before running their weekly errands.  He was well known for his grass mowing skills and prided himself on keeping his yard looking nice and keeping his vehicles clean inside and out.  He was well loved by his family and friends, and his spirit will continue to live on through all of the lessons and values that he taught his family.  It has been our great pleasure to call him husband, dad, grandpa, popo, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 31st, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will begin on Thursday, September 1st at Assumption Catholic Church with Rosary being recited at 9:30 am and Mass beginning at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
