James Earl "Butch" Norrell went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8, 2025.  Butch was born on Saturday, November 15, 1941 to his parents; J. H. Norrell and Beatrice Bailey Norrell in Paris, Texas.  He had two sisters, June Chapman and Margret Cantrell, both are deceased.  He is survived by his wife of 59-1/2 years, Pat who resides in Edna, Texas, two grandchildren; Logan and his wife Katelynn and Hannah Gabrysch, also his son-in-law; Allen Gabrysch, sister-in-law Regina Wooten, and the Gabrysch Family and many friends.  His only child; Missy Gabrysch died of Cancer in 2014.

Butch graduated from Powdery High School and East Texas State University with a Bachelors and Masters degree.  He taught in the North Lamar School District for 32 years.

Butch loved working in the yard, camping and being with his cows in the country.  His favorite animal was his dog; Princess.  Butch was a Mason and faithful Christian.  He spent many hours serving the Powderly Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church, Edna and Ganado Methodist Church.  The thing he really loved to do was to teach Sunday School.  Butch started the Round Table class at Edna.  He spent many years as a lay speaker at churches.  Butch served, and held many positions on the various committees of the church.  He also enjoyed the Walk to Emmaus and worked many walks.

The loves of his life was his wife, Pat and Missy, as well as the church.  Pat stayed and sacrificed to be with and care for Butch during periods of illness.  He was so thankful for this love and their life together.  He and Pat were married for 59-1/2 years.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, December 12, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am at Ganado Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Beard officiating.  The family and close friends will have a private burial at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ganado Methodist Church, 200 Twin Oaks Blvd., Ganado, TX 77962.
