In Loving Memory of Josie Garza Ramirez

October 12, 1947 - March 13, 2025

Josie Garza Ramirez, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 13, 2025. Born in Edna, Texas to the late Samuel Garza and Callistra Hernandez, Josie led a life full of love and dedication.

A retired laundry-aide, Josie worked at Southbrooke Manor in Edna for over 20 years, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her profession. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Josie is survived by her brother, Jose Hernandez Garza, and her children: Diana P. Villarreal of Cypress; Jessica Barrientes of Edna; Alfred Padron (Tania) of Colorado; Richard Padron of Victoria; Samuel Padron of Victoria; Ruben Padron of Austin; and Higino L. Ramirez Jr. of Seguin. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Josie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Higino L. Ramirez Sr., her parents, Samuel and Callistra Garza, her sister, Frances P. Garza, and her brother, Domingo P. Garza.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2025, at 11:00am at Slavik Funeral Home chapel with a funeral service beginning at 12:00pm with Pastor Andy Schroer officiating.  Interment to follow at Edna Latin America Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Samuel Padron, Higino L. Ramirez Jr., Richard Padron Jr., Isaac Barrientes, Joe David Garcia, and David Adam Howard.  Honorary pallbearer is Ian Corona.
