It is with a heavy heart that the family of Joyce Carol Knuppel King announces her passing on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the age of 70, after a short battle with cancer.
Joyce was born in Ganado, Texas in 1953 and took a very active role on her family's farm after her father's sudden passing when she was 9 years old. She went on to graduate from Ganado High School, and then attended Wharton County Junior College where she was a member of the Starlettes Drill Team. From there she went to Texas A&M University and majored in Computer Science where she met her former husband, Robert King. They went on to have a son, Ben Everett King.
They moved to Houston in 1976 where she went to work for Lansdowne Moody Tractor Company and held various positions until her retirement in June of 2020.
She participated in her community by helping start the first Neighborhood Watch Program for her subdivision and was later elected to the Board of Directors for the Fallbrook Utility District, ultimately serving as it's Secretary and then President for several years.
Joyce loved cheering on her grandchildren at their various events and got great joy from spending time with her sisters and their families and numerous cousins, as well as sailing and flying with her friend Harold Desmond.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lifford Knuppel and Lois (Bacak) Knuppel and is survived by her son, Ben King and his wife Kara and their children Wesley, Brannon and Tierney of Bee Cave, Texas, and her sisters, Linda Koenig and her husband James of Angleton, Texas and Karen Klaus and her husband Ralph of Ganado, Texas.

To honor Joyce's vibrant spirit, the family will be wearing something in Joyce's favorite colors, turquoise or maybe light blue to the church service. They would be delighted if others choose to do the same. It would bring her pure joy to see the church filled with the vibrant hues she loved so dearly.
