Judy Lupe Estrello Rodriguez, 79, of Ganado, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025.
Judy was born on March 22, 1946, in Ganado, Texas, to Pilar and Rafael Estrello. She dedicated her life to education and service, spending many years as a teacher who believed deeply in the power of knowledge, advocacy, and opportunity. Judy was more than an educator. She was a mentor, an activist, and a tireless advocate for her community. She worked closely with families and local organizations to support children, promote educational access, and uplift those in need. Her compassion, strength, and commitment to justice left a lasting impact on generations of students and community members.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Pilar and Rafael Estrello.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Rodriguez; her children, Sheryl Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Joey Garcia; her sisters, Frances Coursey, Lisa Azios, Carmen Estrello, Patsy Zabrano, Gloria Estrello, and Antonia Carrera; her brother, Pete Estrello; her grandchildren, Allicia Ann Guerrero Mitchell, Ashley Guerrero, Abraham Guerrero IV, Alanna Rodriguez, and Jeremiah Rodriguez; and her five great-grandchildren, Christopher Holmes, Felicia Holmes, Mailani Mitchell, Katsumi Duarte, and Abraham Guerrero V.
Judy’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched: as a teacher, an advocate, and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love for her family and community knew no bounds.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00am at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado, Texas with the rosary being recited at 10:30am. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00am with interment to follow at Edna Latin American Cemetery.
