Laverne (Dickey) Glover

Laverne Dickey Glover went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2023.  She was born on September 26, 1938 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to H. Branch and Ozell Wright Dickey.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

She was married to the late Cody M. Glover and had two children, four grandchildren and  six great grandchildren.  She is survived by her two children, Cheryl Ray and husband Terry of Mauriceville, Texas and Cody Maurice Glover, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Ganado, Texas; four grandchildren; Chris Ray and wife Michelle of Mauriceville, Texas; Kyle Glover of Corpus Christi, Texas; Brooke Glover of Ganado, Texas; James Ray and wife Rebecca of Buna, Texas; and six great-grandchildren. Laverne is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Smalling of Carrollton, Texas and one niece and three nephews. 

She has been preceded in death by her parents, H. Branch and Ozell Dickey, and her husband Cody M. Glover, Sr.

Laverne loved the Lord and was an active member of the Robinson Street Church of Christ.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and a former charter member of the Pilot Club of Jackson County, Texas.  She was very interested in her family, genealogy, history, painting and gardening.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 9:30 am, followed by funeral service at 10:30 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, Texas.
