Margaret Catherine Reckaway, 89, of New Braunfels, formerly of Jackson County passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024. Margaret was born on February 28, 1935 to Ruth Hamman Goad and Clarence E. Goad in Rural Edna, Jackson County, Texas.  Margaret married the love of her life,  Herman H. Reckaway in 1953, and together they raised their son Larry "Ricky" Reckaway, and they resided in New Braunfels for 50+ years. 

Margaret was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in New Braunfels, where she was known for her famous chocolate cake and her willingness and kind spirit for serving her church as well as her community.  She worked as a hairstylist until her early 70's, when she retired to take care of her husband until his death.  Margaret has been preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth Goad, husband Herman H. Reckaway, son Larry "Ricky" Reckaway (passed away on May 19, 2024) sisters: Evelyn Quinn Sowders, Infant Sister; Marie Goad, brothers; Jerry W. Quinn, Infant Brother; Weldon L Quinn, Jr.  She is survived by her brother; Charles "Ed" Goad, sister; Brenda Quinn Koop.

Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:00 am with Pastor Andy Schroer officiating.

RIP Margaret, your legacy will live in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Eastside Baptist Church in New Braunfels.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rick and Maggie Delee, Norma Jean Rossi, Pastor Benny, Rene' Sowders and Toni Sowders.
