With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, who peacefully entered the arms of the Lord on February 5, 2025, at the age of 85.
Maria “Lupe” was born in Ganado, Texas, January 13, 1940, to her late parents, Miguel Riojas and Lois Riojas. She worked at Ganado Care Inn nursing home for 18 years and later made her home in El Campo, Texas with her husband where she was a housekeeper for many years. She was a woman of prayer and faith, endless love and quiet strength. A devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a faithful servant of God her heart was always open, and her arms were always ready to embrace those she loved. Her faith guided her through life’s joys and challenges, and she lived as a true example of kindness, strength, and unwavering trust in God.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Roger Rodriguez, who stood by her side through life’s journey. Her greatest joy were her children: daughters Patricia Marroquin and Evon Hinojosa (Severo), sons Frank Morales Jr. (Terri), and Roger Rodriguez Jr, her sisters Mary Luera (Gilbert), Laura Estrada (Robert), Joann Pena and Perline Riojas, her brothers Mike Riojas Jr. (Briceire), Fred Riojas and Victor Riojas.
Her love extended through generations, blessing her with eight grandchildren: Cory Marroquin (Kelsey), Kimberly Marroquin, Dwayne Hinojosa (Pam), Macy Sanchez (Marty), Brandi Morales (Juan), Cody Morales (Karen), Olivia Morales and Adrian Rodriguez, and twelve great-grandchildren: Falynn Marroquin, Nolan Marroquin, Maeve Enriquez, Roland Enriquez, Ayden Enriquez, Katalena Morales, Angel Jr. Lopez, Zachary Hinojosa, Bowen Hinojosa, Raelynn Pena, Myleigh Sanchez and Myles Sanchez, each of whom she cherished with all her heart. She held a very special place in the lives of her siblings, extended family and friends who she loved very much.
Maria “Lupe” was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brothers Johnny Riojas and George Riojas, her sisters Gloria Garcia, Rosie Robles, Frances Solis, and Molly Caballero. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in knowing she is now reunited with them, surrounded by love and peace in eternity.
Her legacy is one of faith, love, and kindness. Whether it was through her gentle words or a home-cooked meal, she made sure everyone around her felt loved and cared for. Our family will forever be grateful for the love she poured into our lives. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to guide, comfort and watch over us.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, at Ganado Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 am, Rosary at 11:30 and Ruben Castillo sharing the Word and music as we come together to honor and celebrate Lupe’s life. Pallbearers are Dwayne Hinojosa, Cory Marroquin, Cody Morales, Marty Sanchez, Juan Enriquez, Jason Riojas, Mark Riojas, Gilbert Luera Jr, and Michael Luera. Honorary Pallbearers are her great-grandchildren.
Lupe, your love was a gift that will never fade. We will carry you in our hearts always.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
