Mike Riojas Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike “Jr.” Riojas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 72, in Victoria, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on June 15, 1953, in Ganado, Texas, Mike was the treasured son of Miguel and Lois Loa Riojas. He was a man whose warmth and humor left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike's life was filled with joy, laughter, and love, and his legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched.

Mike was preceded in death by several cherished family members who wait for him in eternal peace, including his brothers George and Juan Riojas, as well as his sisters Lupe Rodriguez, Gloria Garcia, Rosa Robles, Francis Zapata, and Molly Caballero. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who remain.

Mike is survived by siblings Fernando, Richard, and Leon Riojas, Mary Luera, Laura Estrada, Perline Riojas, Joanne Pena, and his loving wife of 52 years, Briceire “Chopper” Marroquin Riojas, whose partnership was a testament to love and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children Mark Riojas (wife Tammie), Jason Riojas (wife Ashley), grandchildren: Sydney Riojas Lindsey (husband Colton), Morgan Riojas Svatek (husband Chase), Logan Riojas, Brianna Riojas, Matthew Escamilla, and great grandchildren Saylor Riojas, and Myles Riojas. The bond they shared was a source of pride and joy for Mike, and he embraced each moment spent with them.

Throughout his life, Mike was a devoted member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he found community and connection in his faith. He retired from a fulfilling career in the oilfield, where his hardworking nature and loyalty were admired by many. Beyond his work, Mike found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time outdoors, dancing, listening to music, sharing jokes, and entertaining friends and family. He had a knack for gardening and was often seen enjoying a drink in the company of loved ones, observing the world with a curious and loving heart.

Mike's characteristics were a shining example of his character—humorous, loving, caring, honest, loyal, hardworking, and outspoken. He was never shy to express his thoughts or share a laugh, providing comfort and joy to those around him. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by all who knew him.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 9:30 A.M at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M., where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Mike’s extraordinary life and to honor his memory.

As we bid farewell to Mike “Jr.” Riojas, let us remember the laughter, love, and light he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

Services are entrusted to the Todish family of Ganado & Slavik Funeral Homes.
