Pernie "Louise" (Baker) Cornejo

Pernie Louise Baker Cornejo, passed away on April 7, 2023 in Baytown, Texas at the age of 90 years old.  Born in Palo Pinto, Texas, she was the daughter of Earl Baker and Zelma Starritt Baker.  Louise called Edna her home.  She was a member of Baptist Temple Church in Edna since the 1960's.  She took great pride and was dedicated to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for which she and her late husband Johnny devoted much of their life to post 912.

She will be remembered for her love in attending family reunions year after year.  Louise and her dearest friend, Elizabeth Lopez and Vella Jones, loved to travel and listen to country music.  Louise loved to sew, quilt and crochet.

She is survived by her sons; Troyce and Kathy Emerson, Gaylon "Buddy" and Wanda Emerson, John Edward and Joyce Cornejo, Larry and Debbie Cornejo, daughters; Cathy and Brillo Nalley, Rhonda Emerson, Connie Baker and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Cornejo.  And also her loving sister Iva Jay Roberts.  She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Cornejo, her parents, Earl Baker and Zelma Starritt Baker, her son, Ricky Cornejo, grandson, Brandon Cornejo, son-in-law, Don Baker, brothers, JC Baker, Melvin Baker, Leroy Baker, sisters; JoAnn King, Patsy Day and Ila Mae Robert's.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Red Bluff Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be; Tre Emerson, Bruce Emerson, Jason Emerson, Jarrett Emerson, Rick Cornejo, Brian Cornejo and John William Cornejo.

Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 209 N. Allen Street, Edna, Texas 77957, 361-782-2152.
