Robert "Bobby" Leroy Putnam went home to Heaven on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the age of 91, after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Bobby was born on Sunday, July 31, 1932, in Chesterfield, Connecticut. He was the son of George and Marie (Richards) Putnam and the fourth of eight children. At the age of 11, the family moved to Key West, Florida. In the early 1950's he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed at Foster Field in Victoria, Texas.
In the spring of 1953, he met his future wife, Marian "Joyce" Fowler. The following November they were married in Edna. They had three daughters; Brenda Blanar (James), Gaylyn Harp (Jerry), and Robbie Hafernick (Lee). Bobby chose an occupation as an oilfield roughneck/driller/tool pusher from which he made a respectable living and was able to retire at the age of 62. After retiring, he and is wife enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and dominoes, and traveling with their RV Club.
Bobby has been preceded in death by his parents; Marie and George Putnam, brother; George Putnam, Jr., four sisters; Charlotte Tomlin, Helen Wise, Carolyn Newlan and Sally Calverley, and his daughter Gaylyn Sue Putnam Harp. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two sisters; Clair Sims and Susan Blomgren, his daughters; Brenda Blanar (James) and Robbie Hafernick (Lee), also his beloved grandchildren; Cheryl (Blanar) Zelezniak, Christy Blanar, Corey Blanar, Cheri (Harp) Ayoub, Renee (Hafernick) Walkingshaw, Ryanne (Hafernick) Elton, Rhea Lea (Hafernick) Hessler, and twelve beloved great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 30th, 2023 at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado with Visitation beginning at 9:00 am, Rosary being recited at 9:30 am, and Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna at 1:00 pm, with Father Greg officiating.
