Ruth "LaVerne" Robinson, 87, of Edna, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Ganado, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Crisp, and brothers, Tommy Crisp and Glenn Crisp.
LaVerne was born on May 21, 1933 in La Ward, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Ruth Crisp. LaVerne graduated from Edna High School in 1950 and entered the Corpus Christi Beauty School where she graduated with her beautician degree and immediately began working in Ganado. LaVerne married the love of her life, James F. Robinson and settled down in Edna, Texas. They were married for 69 years and upon her retirement, dedicated herself to spending quality time with her family. In 1962, she began working at City Florist for her mother, and in 1972, LaVerne purchased the flower shop and operated the business until 2012. She loved the community of Edna and all of the wonderful people who blessed the shop with their presence. LaVerne was an active member of the Mid Coast Allied Florist Association for 25 years. She was also involved in the American Business Women's Association where she served as the President and the Treasurer for the Board. LaVerne was a long time member of the Robison St. Church of Christ and had fond memories of growing up and raising her children with her church family. She enjoyed working with her hands, arranging beautiful flowers, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She cherished all of the trips made to the bayhouse in Port O'Connor where the family could gather and spend time together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, mentor, and dear friend that will never be forgotten.
LaVerne is survived by her husband James F. Robinson, and sons Mark Robinson, Ronnie Robinson (Pam Bozka), and Clay Robinson (Lisa Kolodziejczyk) as well as 7 grandchildren; James Ray Robinson, Mark Paul Robinson, Kris Ford, Logan Robinson, Caleb Robinson, Rhyan Robinson, and Parker Robinson, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bobby Crisp (Helen) and sisters-in-law Charlene Crisp and Charlotte Crisp.
Pallbearers will be: James Ray Robinson, Mark Paul Robinson, Glenn Crisp, Justin Crisp, Logan Robinson and Caleb Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bobby William Crisp, Matt Crisp, Kris Ford, Tim Luttrall, Tony Luttrall and Parker Robinson.
There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at Red Bluff Cemetery with Sherrel Mercer officiating.
