Stephen "Steve" Labay, Jr. Obituary

Stephen "Steve" Jerome Labay, Jr. 87 of Ganado earned his heavenly wings on Monday May 15, 2023. Steve was born on Monday, September 23, 1935 in Nada, Colorado County, Texas to Stephen Jerome "Jerry" Labay, Sr. and Ludmilla Labay.  Steve has been survived by his loving family; his wife of almost 65 years, Jeanette Labay, his children; Michele Bures and her husband Joey of Ganado, Mike Labay and his wife Kathy of Ganado, and Pat Labay of El Campo. his beloved grandchildren; Jamie, Heath, Matthew, Ashley, Shelby, Seth, Josh and Jessalyn and Morgan, and his great-grandchildren; Jaxyn, Saylor, and Beau Bures, Luke, Halie, Maverick, and Beckett Bures, Logan, Kole, Madi Bay, and Bearen Bures, Joey Michele, Rush William and Ripp Henderson. Presley, Baylor and Easton Labay, Kaylee, Braden, Blaykeslee and Keegan Pieprzyca Paisley and Peyton Pierce, and Kami Klepac.   Also Steve's siblings; Pauline Leopold of Nada, Lambert Labay and his wife Kathy of Austin.  Steve has been preceded in death by his parents; Stephen Jerome "Jerry" Labay, Sr. and Ludmilla Labay, his siblings; Johnny Labay, Tommy Labay, Joe Labay and Dolores Adler, also his daughter; Lynette Labay Cox.

Steve was a loving and caring family man, he was a member of the U.S. Army  for a little over 3 years during the Korean War, from February of 1956 thru May 1, 1960. After his time in the military, he went to work for Alcoa, where he later retired. Steve also went to Seminary for 7 years.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. 

Pallbearers will be; Jamie Bures, Heath Bures, Matthew Bures, Seth Labay, Josh Labay, Scott Henderson, Dale Klepac, and Cori Pierce.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his beloved great-grandchildren: Jaxyn, Saylor, and Beau Bures, Luke, Hallie, Maverick, and Beckett Bures, Logan, Kole, Madi Bay and Bearen Bures, Joey Michele, Rush William, and Ripp Henderson, Presley, Baylor, and Easton Labay, Kaylee, Braden, Blaykeslee and Keegan Pierzyca  Paisley and Peyton Pierce, and Kami Klepac.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado with Father Greg Korenek officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with Rosary being recited at 1:30 pm, followed by Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Assumption Catholic Church or to  Matthew 25 Ministry, P. O. Box 369, Ganado, Texas 77962
