Vera (Sayles) Joshua

Mrs. Vera Joshua, 87, formerly of Edna, presently of New Braunfels, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.  Vera was born on Tuesday,  March 28, 1933 in Edna, Texas to Laylen Robinson Sayles and Rayfel Sayles, Sr.  Vera married the love of her life, Freddie Joshua in 1953, and together they raised their family.  Vera completed Adell Beauty College in 1962, she was the owner/operator of Joshua's Beauty Rambler for many years.  She had a flair for hair, and was very well known in her community.  She loved gardening, cooking, and watching TV, but he favorite hobby was barbequing. 

Vera has been survived by daughters, Lavinua Washington and her husband Travis of DeSoto, Texas, Janny Joshua of New Braunfels, Texas, her sons, Danny Joshua and Kevin Joshua, her beloved grandchildren, Emily Aguilar and her husband Brian, Kaytlyn Joshua and Landen Joshua, as well a two great-grandsons, all of New Braunfels, nieces Wanda Ballard and Chariesse Turner of Houston, Texas, as well as a host of family and friends who will deeply miss her laughter, smile and her loving touch. Vera has been preceded in death by her parents, Laylen and Rayfel Sayles, her husband Freddie Joshua, her brothers, Jesse Ray Sayles and Rayfel Sayles, Jr. and her sister Margie Callis of Houston, (passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, services will be on November 28, 2020)

No matter her name; Mother, Nanny or Meme, she taught all of us to stand tall and be confident and be our own person.  It's a sad day here on earth for those that she left behind, but God's will, will be done.  She was one strong woman.  She will always be in our hearts and mind.  Thanks Be To God

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 21, 2020 beginning at 11:30 am with Brother Evans of Houston officiating at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel.  Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 209 N. Allen St. Edna, TX 77957, 361-782-2152.
