William "Bill" Peters Obituary

William Frank Peters "Bill" AKA Billy, AKA Pete, was born on Thursday, November 16, 1944.  Bill was called home by the Lord on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the age of 78.

Bill grew up moving around quite a bit between Texas and Louisiana due to his dad working in the oilfield.  Sometimes he moved as much as three times during a school year.

He graduated from Ganado High School in 1963.  After High School he went to Wharton Junior College before enlisting in the Texas Army National Guard, serving six years.  Bill also started his career at Dow Chemical Company in Freeport Texas, where he was a carpenter.  In 1971 Bill met...dated...and married a local Ganado girl (Linda Zajicek).  The married couple lived in Freeport...Clute...and Angleton.  They have 3 sons...Jason...Brandon...and Brett Peters.  The three sons married...and each couple have rewarded Bill and Linda with two grandchildren...making a wonderful, beloved six grandchildren!

Bill worked for the Dow Chemical Company for 29 years...Bill retired in 1995 at the age of 50.  After retirement Bill moved back to his family home place in Ganado where he started doing what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.  His most enjoyment in retirement was to be able to spend time with his cousins and friends, farming, flying, fishing, hunting, and collecting guns!!  Bill also helped others with his God given talents of carpentry...along with electrical, plumbing, and also mechanical work.  Bill enjoyed spending time providing for his family.  Anytime he could...he would take vacation to spend time camping at the lake with his family.  During the summers he would spend hours barbecuing and pulling the boys behind the boat skiing or hydro sliding until he would run out of gas...OR...Lone Star "Red Label" beer.  During the winters, the family would haul "truck loads" of firewood to the park and spend countless hours around the campfire telling stories, whittling, or cracking pecans and also barbecuing or making Gumbo.  Bill, along with wife Linda...working together was also involved in everything that the boys did when they were growing up from Cub Scouts to baseball.  When the boys were involved in Scouts, Bill was cub master...Linda the Scout Leader!  In baseball he would be the coach while Linda kept order in the dugout, Bill and Linda also supported many of the school functions and offered knowledge and labor when needed.

Bill has been preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Leona Peters and his brother, Anthony "Tony" Peters.  He is survived by his wife; Linda Zajicek Peters of 51 years, son; Jason Peters, and his two children; Devin and Dakota, son, Brandon Peters and his wife Sabrina, and their children; Sydney and Brant, and son, Brett Peters and his wife Kim Ellen and their children, Raelynn and Jase.
