Yung Hi Huh "Mickey" Kruse Obituary

Born in South Korea, her mother passed away when she was just 12 years old, leaving her to raise her siblings alongside her grandmother.  In 1960 she met and married the love of her life, James Kruse, while he was stationed in Korea during the war.  She moved to Palacios just days before Hurricane Carla hit, without knowing English when she arrived.  She worked to rebuild a life where she became a US Citizen and made her way.  She faithfully attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Mickey served many years as manager at Central Elementary Cafeteria where she made many friends and her love stretched across all campuses.  She will be remembered by all who knew her with a tremendous servant's heart, devoted to faith, family and community.  She loved everyone with food.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She is survived by her only son, Jamie Kruse and wife Haley, her grandchildren, Tristan and his wife Arielle, Steffen and his wife Madeline, and Ashtyn and Brooklyn. Also, her one great-grandson: Lennon (son of Tristan and Arielle).

There will be a service on Friday, April 8, 2022, beginning at 1:00 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios, interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado and Slavik Funeral Homes, 209 N. Allen St. Edna, TX 77957, 361-782-2152.
